The Roselea Public School band program provides students with the opportunity to learn a musical instrument and to participate in rehearsing and performing with a band.
The goal of the program is to help students develop musical skills, within a fun, yet disciplined environment. Through the program students not only gain the benefits offered through music, but learn about team work, commitment and discipline.
Please watch the video below (1 minute, 15 seconds) to hear our student band perform.
Our band
The Roselea band program has between two and three bands each year, depending on the numbers and ability of students involved in the program. These include:
- Training band - catering for beginners - students in their first year of playing.
- Concert band - this is the premier ensemble, and students are only moved to this ensemble once they have demonstrated that they can cope with more difficult music.
- Intermediate (junior) band - this band is formed in years where there are significant numbers of students that have been playing for a year, but are not quite ready for the challenges of the Concert Band.
Students can join the band from Year 3. Instruments available include clarinet, flute, trombone, trumpet, saxophone, percussion and bass guitar.
Our Roselea bands perform on a regular basis, at school events such as assemblies, ANZAC Day, band nights and carols, as well as local eisteddfods and festivals.
Under the direction of our Roselea band conductor, the Roselea bands have developed to a very high standard. Our conductor is very passionate about music and developing music skills with young children, providing the bands with a wide repertoire, keeping the children interested and challenged.
